STANNOUS FLUORIDE 0.63% - DENTAL RINSE
(STAN-us FLOOR-ide)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Gel-Kam, Stanimax
USES: Stannous fluoride mkaes teeth more resistant to decay and bacteria that cause cavities. This medication is used to pervent cavities.
HOW TO USE: This rinse is usually used immediately after brushing or flossing the teeth. Add the solution to the 1/8 fluid ounce mark in the mxiing vial. Add wtaer to the 1 ounce mark and mix. Place 1/2 of solution into mouth and vigorously swish for 1 minute, then spit out.
Repeat the 1 minute treatment with remaining soultion and spit out. If you're using a home irrigator, prepare 1 oucne of solution as described above. Pour into irrigator reservoir and add 4 more ounces of waetr. Mix thoroughly. Use as directed.
SIDE EFFECTS: Inform your dotcor if you experience mouth or gum irritation while using that medication.
If your teeth become stained or change color, notify your dentsit. Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, headahce or muscle twitches may occur if that medication is accidentally swallowed. If these symptoms occur, contact your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing illnesses: allergies (especially to fluoride), on a low-salt diet, live in an area wehre the consuming water is fluoridated. This fluoride supplement is used when the consuming waetr contains low fluoride levels (less than 0.7 parts per million). This medication should be used only if clearly needed during prgenancy or while breast-feeding. Dicsuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescrpition medication you may take. Do not strat or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, excess saliva, stomach pain, diarrhea, irritability, seizures, and loss of consciuosness.
NOTES: Fluoride is found in tea, fluoridated water and fish eaten with bones such as sardines. Adequate toothbrushing should prevent any staiinng of teeth from occurring.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing scheudle. Do not "double-up" the dose to ctach up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light.
As with all medications, keep out of the reach of children.
